Weymouth Community Electricity

Weymouth Community Electricity is a program offered by the Town to provide residents and businesses more electricity supply options and more renewable energy. The program is a Town-vetted alternative to National Grid’s default supply and other third party electricity suppliers.

Future savings cannot be guaranteed. The additional Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) qualify for MA Class I designation and come only from solar, wind, anaerobic digestion and low impact hydro. RECs are the accepted legal instrument used to track renewable energy generation and to substantiate claims of renewable energy use. Learn more about the product details and renewable energy content here.

Customers eligible for automatic enrollment in Weymouth Community Electricity will be mailed a notification letter. If you receive the letter, you are slated to be enrolled in Weymouth Standard (14.249 ¢/kWh) starting on your next meter read. No action is necessary to receive this price. If you are enrolled, you may always leave the program at any time, without penalty.

If you do not receive a letter, you will not be automatically enrolled. You may join the program by submitting a request to enroll here

Please note: If you are a new medium, large or very large business customer, and opt out of the program, the supplier has the option to offer a market price if you enroll in the future. Market prices will be offered by the electricity supplier in writing, and you will not be enrolled in that price unless you affirmatively accept.

  • Low-Income Discount: National Grid in Massachusetts has transitioned to a tiered low-income discount rate, replacing the previous flat 32% discount. Discounts now range from 32% to 71% based on income level and apply to the entire bill, including the cost of Weymouth Community Electricity (CEA) supply. Go to this page to enroll.
  • Heat Pump Discount Rate: Starting November 1, 2025, most electricity customers with heat pumps will receive a discount through National Grid’s ‘heat pump’ delivery rate. This discount applies only to the delivery portion of electric bills, so customers in this community’s aggregation program remain eligible and can enjoy added savings.
    • Key details:
      • Automatic enrollment: Customers with Mass Save®-supported heat pumps installed on or after Jan 1, 2019 will be automatically enrolled starting Nov 1, 2025 — no action needed.
      • Winter discount: Reduced delivery rates apply Nov 1 – Apr 30 each year.
      • Estimated savings: About $540 per winter (Mass. DPU).
      • No impact on supply: Only affects delivery charges; aggregation supply rates stay the same.
      • Non-heat-pump customers: Remain on standard delivery rates.
      • Enrollment notices: Sent by late Oct 2025.
      • Manual enrollment: All other customers need to reach out to National Grid to enroll
