Timeline

  • The municipal aggregation statute requires that the Town obtain approval from the local governing authorities before initiating the development of the Plan. The Town satisfied the local approval requirement when the Town Meeting voted to initiate the process of municipal aggregation March 6, 2023.

  • Weymouth selected Good Energy, L.P. as its aggregation consultant to assist in developing this Plan, managing the supply procurement, developing and implementing the public education plan, interacting with the Local Distribution Company, National Grid, and monitoring the supply contract.

  • The aggregation statute requires the Town to consult with the Department of Energy Resources (DOER) in developing the Plan, prior to its public review. This consultation shall include reviewing and discussing the DOER Recommended Best Practices for Advancing Clean Energy in Municipal Aggregation Plans (“DOER Best Practices”).The Town of Weymouth met with the DOER on September 24, 2024.

  • Weymouth will prepare a Draft Plan and will make it available for citizen review from January 6, 2025.

  • A public meeting is scheduled at the Weymouth Senior Center on February 24, 2025, at 6:00 PM to gather feedback from residents on the plan. Weymouth Senior Center Address: 182 Green St, North Weymouth, MA 02191

  • Weymouth, docket number 25-26, submitted their aggregation plan to the DPU on March 11, 2025. The Department will ensure that the Program satisfies all of the statutory requirements, including that the Plan provides universal access, a reliable power supply and equitable treatment for all customer classes. The DPU scheduled a public hearing for the Town of Weymouth on May 1, 2025 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Further details can be found in the NOTICE OF FILING, PUBLIC HEARING AND REQUEST FOR COMMENTS.

  • The DPU approved Weymouth’s aggregation plan  on June 4, 2025. With this approval, the Town will be able to procure electricity supply and launch its program.
